Alisa had to work Thursday, so we were on our own. She lives in the Capitol Heights neighborhood, named after its proximity to the the state capitol.
Slightly surprisingly, there's no security at the capitol building, so we wandered in and found ourselves part of a tour group.
We were there too late in the year to see any state legislating being done. They only work until March or something. There were renovations underway when we were there.
OMG, same dome, except I'm further up.
Look, you can see the stairs where I took the first dome picture. How meta.
But there's only so much you can learn about the state capitol. Eventually we were loose again. Here's the expansion to the Denver Art Museum, which is actually in a finished form. They said that the Tyvek is a material highly symbolic of the plight of the American West. The people climbing are part of a tour group.
They had lots of cool cowboy statues around downtown.
Haha, they still have the same green construction tunnel as they did last time I was there. I still like taking pictures in it. There's Jess and I.
Walking along Cherry Creek, we were almost run over by Alisa's boyfriend Eric, who is a bike messenger. He rotated his bike around for this picture, so my friend Pete at home could see his star cranks. If you're observant, you'll also notice the single speed, with no brakes. That boosts his messenger cred.
We spent a while longer just wandering around.
We tried to take a tour of the mint, but they were full for the day and besides, you can't take pictures in there anyways.
Later, towards evening, I went to go see Loreli. Here's darling Isabeau. She looks pretty wary of me in this first picture.
Izzy's Dad came to pick her up, and Lo and I went out to eat falafel.
Later, we lounged around the apartment. Lo took blurry pictures of me.
And I recriprocated.
Isabeau came back, and was fascinated by my camera.
She liked having her picture taking, and would study it on the LCD screen. Of course, I don't have any pictures of that.
