I went to the Lucas County Fair last week. It was free entry day, but parking was $3, so that wasn't exactly free, was it? Okay, I suppose it was free if you live across the street from the fair or something.
I always love to go and see all the animals and rides and stuff.
There were a few help wanted signs. I could be a carney!
I also like all the other weird booths and tents, like this display of old-fashioned carriages. Not antiques, actually, but made recently in an old style.
Fancy chickens, of course, are a must-see.
There were a lot of bunnies this year.
Lucas County doesn't actually include much agricultural land. I suppose bunnies are easy to raise in the semi-suburbs.
I never miss the 4-H barns with collections.
And art shows.
I was meeting my sister and her friends there, but had gotten impatient and arrived early. Thus, I had plenty of time to wander restlessly, which I did.
Anyhow, they showed up eventually. Here's Liz E.
And Liz M, my sister. One of them needs to start using a different name, like Betsy or Lizz.
And Erin, wearing a shirt she cleverly screenprinted herself. Also attending were Emma and Lynn, who were photo-shy or something.
We looked at a very few animals.
But almost as soon as we went into the first barn, announcements came on that we needed to seek shelter.
We were already in shelter, but it was getting boring, so we made our way to the main building.
The storm looked exciting.
About 50 feet away from the main building, we were pelted by debris. Quite a few people got their tents ruined. I hit by a trash can lid and got grit in my teeth.
The clear skies you see are what we had before the storm came.
It rained big heavy sheets for like 15 minutes, then cleared up.
When it was clear, we went out to win some goldfish, which we failed at.
I ate a deep-fried snickers bar. It was kind of gross.
So we went to the baby animal barn.
All the girls cooed over basically everything. I did too, I think.
It was Erin and Liz's anniversary of something. They got Lemonade to celebrate.
