You know, I claimed a few entries back that September was pretty much the end of taking pictures of bugs at the park, but that's clearly not true. I took these October fourth.

Quite a find that day, with this giant praying mantis.

It didn't like me getting this close, but tough luck, buggo.

There were cute grasshoppers still in evidence.

And stripey beetles.

And these guys, who are very hard to see in the dried out queen-anne's-lace they hung out in.

When we got back to the mantis, we noticed an eaten bee that had fallen below it. It's hard to see, but it's behind that blade of grass in the lower half of the picture. Fascinating.
